Adoption Information

WCRR has an extensive screening process to make sure that our dogs go to suitable homes. Please email us for an application and we will explain the rest of the process, which includes a phone interview, reference check & home visit.

Bolt @ WCRR

Meet Bolt: This wonderful young boy has proven that even though he has been treated so very harshly in the past, he still trusts in humans. Bolt was found running free in the Fraser Valley. From the conditions of his head wounds, it was clear that he had been shot in the head and had been injured for several days. The very kind staff at Animal Control took Bolt right to a vet to have his wounds taken care of. They then contacted us to see if we could take him into our care, and of course we said yes.

Bolt has now landed in a foster home. He has had a second surgery to close his head wounds, has been neutered and has been vaccinated. Bolt will not be ready for adoption until he has completely healed, and we get a chance to know him better. We are accepting applications for this boy, but you will have to be patient. Bolt seems to be your typical friendly goofy rotti boy. He was full of butt wiggles and kisses when he met his foster family! He spent the first night meeting the resident dogs and settling in, and has done well. From what we can tell, Bolt has no obedience training. He will need a gentle but firm hand. Obedience classes will be a mandatory part of his adoption agreement.

Title: Bolt is recovering.
Bolt is recovering very well from all his trauma. He has integrated into his foster home, his wounds are healing nicely and he is beginning to show his true colors. And they are beautiful colors!

Bolt is very friendly, loves spending time with the other dogs and is learning so much from them. The concept of play is something he wasn't sure about, but now thinks is a wonderful thing. He would love to have another dog to live with, one that will understand his puppy ways and help him become a more confident dog. He is also learning very quickly from his foster family that good manners go a long way. Bolt is figuring out that jumping on people is not good but if you sit nicely in front of them, you get cookies and love. Obedience classes are necessary for Bolt both because he needs training and because it is a wonderful way to bond with your new dog

While Bolts wounds are healing nicely, he will have quite a scar on top of his head. X-rays were taken and it seems there are still several pieces of buckshot imbedded under the skin but these won't cause him any trouble other than he may set off a metal detector. ;)

His markings are beautiful, with the deep mahogany against the black and his full tail is always in motion. He is shorter in stature than your usual rotti and has a deep chest and a square type head. Bolt is approximately a year old and should fill out nicely. He is a wonderful dog and would be a great addition to almost any house hold.
