Adoption Information

WCRR has an extensive screening process to make sure that our dogs go to suitable homes. Please email us for an application and we will explain the rest of the process, which includes a phone interview, reference check & home visit.

Mack @ WCRR

Mack is a 3 yr old male that has come from a local animal shelter as a stray and we are still getting to know each other. But this is what we do know.
Mack has no manners. He thinks he is king of the world and needs to be taught that using his mouth to get your attention is NOT acceptable. In fact, Mack needs to learn that the only thing he can use that mouth for is to eat and give kisses.
This is a prime example of what happens when you adopt a dog and do not give him/her any training. Mack has never learned that jumping, mouthing, and humping are rude behaviours. he is learning what proper play is with other dogs and we have found that he is NOT safe around small animals such as cat, rabbits or pet rodents. Mack is currently in boarding learning all about being a good dog. Because of his over excitment, he will not be adopted to a home with small children and must be place with someone that understands the value of exercise and training

Title: Foster Home Update
Mack is a big loveable goof!

He is physically mature at about 2 or 3 years old, but he is still a puppy at heart and has a lot of growing up to do. Mack was probably left to his own devices for the first few years of his life and therefore didn’t have any social skills or manner. But he is eager to please and learns quickly! He has only been here a few days and has already learned that he has to sit nicely to get attention. And boy, does he love attention! He will do the typical rotti lean and lay his body against your leg for as long as you continue to pet his head and love him.

Mack is eager to have a home of his own and someone to devote the time to him that he desperately craves. He wants the love and attention of the people around him, but he is still a bit independent and wants to do his own thing. Once he realizes that his jumping up and mouthing get him nothing, he quickly stops, sits and waits for attention.

Mack has no leash manners, but is in training to learn how to walk nicely on a leash. Mack is also learning how to properly interact with other dogs. While he is not aggressive, he doesn’t know how to play and is slowly figuring it out.

Mack seems to focus on small dogs, so may not be good around smaller dogs or cats, but could learn with some training how to be polite to those smaller than him.

Mack needs a home with big dog experience and someone who has the time to train him and keep his mind and body exercised. He is quite a clumsy guy, so not good around small children or seniors as he may knock them over. As he mentally matures and receives more training, he may learn to be more polite and watch where his big feet are going! He is a lovely guy who just wants love and attention and he is just waiting for the right home to come along and give him what he needs.
