Rocky @ Chilliwack/North Van

Rocky is a 2-3 year old neutered male Lab/Rottweiler cross. He had a sad beginning to life which resulted with him being taken into care at Animal Control where he quickly became a favorite with Shelter Staff.. However, he soon became stressed living in a shelter environment and resorted to fearful behavior such as chasing away anyone interested in a future companion. So Rocky needed a little extra help in order to find his forever home... He has now been in foster care for the past several months where he has learned to live within a family of 4 adults, the resident young male dog and 3 cats.
Although he seems to get along fine with other dogs he can sometimes show dominant behavior so might do best living with a more calm, mature adult dog. Cats continue to be a source of interest to Rocky and although he has learned to accept the older resident cat
He might be better suited to a cat free home. He really tries hard to be friends but due to his loud bark and large size he can be too overwhelming for any cat other than the most dog-savvy one. Rocky loves to go for walks and is very well behaved on leash but needs a little more time to learn to be reliable off leash as he can become distracted and try to chase moving objects. . He is quiet and well behaved in the house, very obedient, willing to learn and eager to please. Due to some past mistreatment Rocky can be a little distrustful around new people but as soon as he knows they don’t mean him any harm he quickly warms up and lets them know he just wants to be friends. For this reason Rocky needs to find someone willing to continue teaching him how to live life outside a shelter environment.
